Chaining

So, I'm attempting to catch some shinies, out of boredom. Anyone got any chaining tips? Things I should/shouldn't do?

My largest chain is five. ^^; The first time I tried I got onto my bike to recharge my Pokerader and that broke the chain, and the second time I stepped out of the grass.

I don't even know how to chain. I'm not big on many of the terms.

It's when you use the pokerader to battle the same pokemon over and over, in a row.
After about 40 battles, you can usually find a shiny of that pokemon.

I've only chained 14, I think. And they were rhydons. o__O

One tip I have to to always step into grass that looks the same. If the first few have white things coming out of them, only step on patches that look like that.
